Responses of revegetated coal strip mine spoils to variable fertilization rates, longevity of fertilization program and season of seeding.

Studies on topsoil coal strip mine spoils related to the effects of the season in which seeding and fertilization treatments were done. Early spring seeding resulted in higher productivity while highly fertilized areas successfully yielded native seed development and stand diversity. Soil nitrogen enrichment depends on soil effectiveness and decomposition of plant litter.
