ABSTRACT: This manual outlines the soil testing methods which are applicable to open pit mining. Harvard miniature compaction apparatus is employed for determining moisture density relationships. The field vane shear test aids is used to determine the undrained strength of day and pore pressure. Consistency limits are also examined.
