Originally published in 1892, when the author was 17. His protagonist is a young man of 23 who, as a proto Social Democrat, moves in Left-wing circles around London. He comes to hear about the villain of the piece, Rudolf Hartmann, who is definitely a Vernian villain in the mould of Captains Nemo and Robur. Hartmann has constructed an immense airship cum airplane and proceeds to bomb London with it, in the name of Nihilistic Anarchism.
A bit simplistic in style, but it moves with a good pace. If it were published today, it would fit well in the Steam Punk genre.
