Date based on information in "William Davison's New specimen of cast-metal ornaments and wood types introduced with an account of his activities as pharmacist and printer in Alnwick, 1780-1858" by Peter Isaac, published in 1990 by the Printing Historical Society, London (p. 13). See BIB D265.7 wi 1837a.

Numerous wood-engraved specimen illustrations are with the addition of ink stamp below image: "BEWICK" [i.e. Thomas Bewick].

Inside of lower wrapper printed with specimens.

MASS copy: Bound in quarter brown bubble-grain cloth and paper-covered boards. Lower board covered with marbled paper. Upper board pasted with remnants of original upper beige paper wrapper printed in black with t.p. Bound with original lower wrapper. With ownership inscription: "J. Malcolm Douglas Solicitor Hope Terrace Alnwick".
