Book Details
First Sentence
"Most fruit plants are propagated by graftage (budding and grafting) because seedlings do not produce plants exactly like those from which the seeds are taken, they bear fruit sooner than seedlings and because a desired variety (scion variety) can be budded or grafted onto seedlings with root systems (rootstoeks or stocks) resistant to certain soil diseases, insects and nematodes or which are tolerant of such soil conditions as salinity or poor drainage."
