Edition Notes
Purchased 1938.
Captions and titles in French, some Latin.
Bartsch. Peintre graveur, 1-60, 81-92, 94, 96, 99, 100, 103, 106
Grässe v. 2, p. 592
Small, mounted etchings of landscapes, fish and crustaceans, birds, religious life, and emblems; several small, etched titles.
Title pages and other pieces give Paris as place of publication.
Album possibly assembled between 1648 and 1664 or 1669 (according to dates on some etchings), and probably in France, when Flamen was active in Paris.
Emblems on [10] leaves at end are numbered; appear to have letterpress on verso. At least some are probably from Flamen's Devises et emblesmes d'amour moralisez.
LC copy has bookplate: Henry W. Hunter, M.A.
