With the exception of one Parrot, all the Parrots on Pipinjay Island had long beautiful tails. Peco the Parrot had only three short, skimpy tail feathers. The long-tailed Parrots laughed at Peco and made Peco's life miserable. So, Peco left and found happiness on a tiny island in the lagoon, with seven old Turtles. Peco made his home on the island's palm tree and was happy. One day, Pirates arrived at Pipinjay Island, and captured all the long-tailed Parrots. To save the Parrots, Peco and the Turtles came up with an idea. They made a make-believe Parrot and placed it on their tiny island's palm tree. The Turtles disguised themselves as stepping stones, and Peco crossed the water on their backs. The Pirates soon noticed the make believe Parrot in the palm tree on the tiny island and crossed over to the island on the Turtles backs to capture the make believe Parrot. The Turtles swam away, and marooned the Pirates. Peco and the Turtles freed all the long-tailed Parrots. The Pirates found they could not escape and surrendered, promising never to return again. The grateful Parrots make Peco King of Pipinjay Isand, and they made the Turtles Heros and gave them big medals. None of the parrots laughed at Peco again.
