Book Details
First Sentence
"The meteorology program of the Icefield Ranges Research Project (IRRP), designed as a preliminary investigation into the summer climate of the St. Elias Mountains - Shakwak Valley area of extreme southwestern Yukon Territory, Canada, was organized to provide information under the following three main objectives: 1. A quantitative description of the weather experience at a high-altitude station in the main snowfield area (Divide Station), including radiation observations and temperature profiles in the semi-boundary air layer, that would permit an evaluation of the heat-energy balance at the air/snow interface for selected periods, 2. General weather observations, in some degree comparable to the above, at a low-altitude site on bare ground (Base Camp at Kluane Lake), and 3. Short-term supplementary weather observations at two accessible sites (Glacier Central and Moraine Camp) located between Divide Station and Base Camp."

Edition Notes
The text of this report was completed in February 1965 at the request of the U. S. Army Natick Lalboratorioes where the author was employed. It is the final report of the meteorological program conducted during the 1963 field season of the Icefield Ranges Research Project (IRRP), co-sponsored by the American Geographical Society and the Arctic Institue of North America (AINA). Drafting of the figures and typing of the tables contained in the Appendix were carried out by personnel at the Natick Laboratories. The observations would have beeen more limited without the help of W. Philip Wagner (Glacier Central), Richard Bonnett (Moraine Camp), Linda Upton (Base Camp) and David E. Saarela (Divide Station). The Icefield Ranges Research Project, led in the field by Richard H. Ragle, was under the general direction of Dr. W. A. Wood, American Geographical Society. (from the Preface)
