According to the "Préambule", the narrative is edited from the manuscript of a deceased English officer who lived in Louisiana.
Has special reference to the revolt against the Spanish authority in 1768-1769.

The 1st edition, London, 1773, was published under the title: La Louisiane ensanglantée.
