Shingoro Takaishi, the author, was an eminent journalist in Japan and a member of the International Olympic Committee from 1939 until his death in 1966. This book, written and delivered as a series of speeches and broadcasts during the author's goodwill tour of the United States in 1937, was published in 1938. At the time Takaishi was Editor-in-Chief of the Tokyo Nichi-Nichi and the Osaka Mainichi.
