The Philadelphia monthly magazine was published for Thomas Condie beginning in January, 1798. The prospectus mentions the "methodic arrangement of the first eight nos. of the Philadelphia monthly magazine."

"Subscriptions are received by Mr. George Hill, bookseller, Baltimore, Mr. A. Somerville, bookseller, no. 290, Pearl-street, New York. Mr. J. Burnet, merchant, Newark. Mr. S Kollock, printer, Elizabeth-town; Mr. J. Tallman, merchant, New-Brunswick, Mr. J. Harrison, merchant, Princet-town. Mr. P. Gordon, merchant, Ternton, Mr. J. Clun, post-master, Bristol, Mr. J Wilson, bookseller, Wilmington, (D) Mr. C.N. Weygaudt, printer, Easton, (P.) Mr. William Birch, bookbinder & stationer, no. 16, South-Second Street, and by T. Condie, no. 20, Carter's-Ally, Philadelphia; where orders and literary communications, post paid, will be thankfully received and punctually acknowledged."
