It is a modern (to its time) ghost story. A young English family is looking for a house they can afford when they come upon a place named The Beeches, but referred to as Hell Corner. The dialog is bright and witty , this is not a scary story, but rather a shivery mystery. Is the house haunted... is someone trying to send a message? Can they sort it out or will they have leave this uncanny house?
