A weird murder mystery that takes place in the Pennsylvania woods. A doctor just out of medical school takes over the practice of another doctor for three months while he is on vacation. The book is very atmospheric and the new doctor tries to get to the bottom of odd occurrences and the murder of a cyclist which was followed by more attacks and murder. The murderer is found to be a werewolf, this is at least partially rationalized but with the possibility left open that the murderer was truly a werewolf.

Edition Notes

Verso of t.p.: Published 1924. This is the first American edition of this title published under the pseudonym Harper Williams. This book was originally published in London in 1913 by Duckworth & Co. and under the authors own name of Margery Williams. The author Margery Williams (Bianco) is much better known as the author of the children's book "The Velveteen Rabbit". This title was published just two years after the release of "The Velveteen Rabbit" and was probably published under a pseudonym to protect the author's new career as a children's book author. The book is bound in a green cloth with yellow stamping.
