A stone-age man, fleeing from three starving wolves, raced to a tall tree and with the agility of an ape, scaled the tree, pulling himself up powerfully, one hand reaching above the other.
So it has been since man's earliest days and so it will be forever. Man's reaching out will never end. When, at the dawn of this century, he conquered the air with power-driven aircraft, a feat quite beyond the comprehension of a mediaeval man, who could have foreseen that little more than a bare half-century later an astronaut would step down on to the surface of the moon?
And now where? Will boys and girls at school now one day see on a television screen the landing of another dauntless astronaut on another planet in some other galaxy? Who knows? But one thing is certain. In the infinite time of the future, man will never stop reaching out, and discovering new planets.
