"The afternoon sun was warm and the people in the little Eskimo village were sitting out of doors talking and resting. On a small hill nearby, two young men walked slowly toward the village. Both of them were natives of Alaska. Peter was short and broad like many of the Eskimo people. He was very good looking with his merry brown eyes and flashing smile. His friend, Charles, was taller and slim. He was good looking too, but his eyes were sober and his smile was shy. As the young men walked along they looked out over the tundra and saw two girls picking berries."
