While recovering from injuries suffered when nursing in Beirut, Bethan's job with Mrs. Ruston, in a peaceful Suffolk village, seemed the perfect solution to help heal her shattered state of mind and body; no stress and plenty of fresh air.

Instead, after meeting Frazer again, and seeing him with the woman he intended to marry, when she'd once dreamed of being his wife herself, hurt her unbearably and reminded her of the guilt she'd carried since Ishbel's (Frazer's sister) party, 10 years ago.
