An edition of The Common Sense God (2006)

The Common Sense God

  • 1 Want to read

This book is the story of what the author found the Bible to contain. He wanted to see if what was reported to be there truly was there. He spent over 25 years objectively as possible checking out the book to see if it stated what mankind has taught. What he found was that it contained a story and a plan far greater he could ever have imagined.
Christianity, and religion in general, has inherent problems in it that most rational thinkers have very many real issues with it and justifiably so. The religious systems we have today, in the authors mind, does not reflect the brilliance of the creative force of the universe but the Bible does!!! What is truly contained there is brilliant filled with reason and common sense. The reader, if they have any interest in the subject, should be captivated at the authors findings.

First Sentence

"Why are we here? What is life all about? Is there a God? What happens when you die? Have you ever asked yourselves these questions or others along the same line?About 25 years ago, I watched a mini series on television called Jesus of Nazareth and it got me thinking. I was brought up in a church going family and knew a lot of the stories from the Bible, but when I saw the events dramatized, as they were in this series, it had an effect on me. I started thinking again about God and religion. I decided to spend some time, trying to get a firmer understanding of what it was all about. Was I asking myself some of the questions above? Not really. I never really thought that there were answers to these questions that could be readily understood and if there were I would never find them. All I wanted to achieve, at that time, was to obtain a better understanding of the Christian religious system as taught in our society. I was hoping to make some sense out of it so I could feel that I knew what was going on."
