Jorge Velasco Mackenzie

Escritor y profesor universitario. Durante varios años ejerció el periodismo cultural en diarios locales. Ha publicado De vuelta al paraíso, cuentos, 1975; Como gato en tempestad, cuentos, 1978; El rincón de los justos, novela (diez ediciones, Premio Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Escritores en 1983). En 1990 apareció Tambores para una canción perdida, Primer Premio de Novela Grupo de Guayaquil. Es autor de dos cuentarios: Desde una oscura vigilia, 1982, y Músicos y amaneceres, Premio Nacional José de la Cuadra, 1985. Su novela histórica En nombre de un amor imaginario obtuvo el primer premio en la cuarta y última Bienal Ecuatoriana de Novela, 1983. Otras novelas suyas son: Río de sombras (2003) y Tatuaje de Náufragos, que recientemente ha obtenido el premio del concurso de Proyectos Literarios Nacionales del Ministerio de Cultura. Cuentos suyos han sido traducidos al inglés, alemán, francés, italiano y portugués
