This is an excellent book for learning the history of the early settlers during the mid-1700's to the wild frontier of "western" Pennsylvania. There are accounts from survivors of Indian raids of what occurred, the date(s) raids took place and who was killed or taken during the raids. Generally, the accounts are very short in nature but full of information. Many of the accounts listed in the book were accounts given to the authorities who recorded them in journals for future reference. A warning - many, if not most, of the accounts are graphic in nature but realistically shows just how hard and dangerous life was for the settlers who headed west into Indian territory.
