Francois Cointereaux pioneered earth building in France in the early 1800s and published several journals on the subject. Called in France "Pise de terre", the process was widely adopted through Europe, and the name Pise (for the process of building with rammed earth) was retained in England and Germany. This is a German translation of one of his booklets.
