A TV salesman, Peter Regan, falls in love with Gilda Delaney, the wife of a wheelchair bound bully. She had never stopped blaming herself for the accident that crippled her husband. At least, that was the story she told him - a story he had no reason to doubt, infatuated as he was with everything about her.
