Eleven promising technologies for remediating lingering oil from the Exxon Valdez were identified and evaluated using a scoring matrix for factors of effectiveness, implementability, and operations. Geospatial data for 42 segments with known subsurface oil were used to calculate the costs for treating the 17 segments that met the oiling criteria.
