MASS copy: Bound in light brown calico cloth blocked in gold, black and red. Upper cover blocked in red and black with part of an illustration similar to those within the text. With dark brown painted endpapers. With printed prize label: "Department of Science and Art of the Committee of Council on Education. Second Grade Prize. Awarded to Herbert Howcroft who obtained a 1st Class (Excellent) in the 2nd Grade Examination in Drawing in Light and Shade By order of the Lords of the Committee of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council on Education. 1889.". With embossed stamp: "Department of Science and Art Reward".
