Edition Notes

"No manuscript drafts of any part of the Historia survive. The sole authority for the text is consequently the 1555 edition, whose printing was personally supervised by Olaus Magnus." This translation, based on "two decent facsimile editions, one published in England in 1971, the other in Denmark in 1972," follows the corrigenda included by Magnus at the end of the original edition, and emends some passages reproduced incorrectly by Magnus from his original written sources. --p. xi, v. 1.
