Several wood-engraved plates are printed on both sides of leaf. Some plates and illustrations within the text are signed "Dalziel Sc." and several are also signed "NEG" [i.e. Nathaniel Everett Green].
Publisher's advertisements for artist's supplies on p. [1]-20 at end, including announcement on p. [1]: "'Prize Medal Awarded.' International Exhibition. Class 2. 1862. Messrs. George Rowney & Co. Have the pleasure to announce that by their system of grinding colours by machinery, They are enabled to supply Artists' colours in oil, water, or powder ... ".

MASS copy: In original glazed yellow printed paper wrappers. Upper cover printed in black with variation of t.p. Lower cover printed in black with publisher's advertisements listing "Geo.
