Copper Contamination of Ecosystems Caused by Smelter Activities.

Complications of Copper smelter emissions include the release and wide dispersal of toxic gases. Modern studies of smelting history techniques that were used in the past in the Sudbury area reveal that the most severe damage to soils, water and biota was done in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
