On 3 May 1919, the 129th Field Artillery Regiment of the Thirty-fifth Division detrained at Kansas City's magnificent, nearly new Union Station, a symbol of the city's aspirations, and the soldiers received a hero's welcome as the regiment marched through the crowded downtown streets.
