Sonia Carson is bringing up by herself Dick, a son of her sister Ruby who married and then was deserted by Michael Farr's brother Guy. When she falls ill, she meets Michael after she recovers to assure herself that the future of Dick is taken care of. There is Phyllis, the woman who jilted Michael, Brandt who is michael's opponent for the congress etc and Guy who returns to add confusion to the usual mix ups.
