Palestine Illustrated by Pen and Pencil is a collection of personal drawings as the author viewed them or were drawn from available photographs. Personal visitations of selected sites were made to verify the location with Biblical accounts by his "independent and accurate conclusion." The project was made possible by funding by the Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund. The engravings feature selected sites from Judea, Bethlehem to the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Samaria, and Galilee.
