Edition Notes
Two related issues appeared in the same year, both printed by Günther in Leipzig. The first has publisher statement: Auff Kosten des Autoris, bey Johann Bielcke, Buchführern in Jena. The imprint of the second is Amsterdam & Danzig, with the author and Bielcke as publishers.
Pt. 2 has separate t.p.
Frontispiece port. of Kunckel has legend: Luc. a Lhibenau Von Wehrd. This should probably be interpreted to mean that the port. was engraved after Lhibenau by von Wehrd, i.e. Nicolaus Häublin; see Thieme-Becker. Following the port. is an engraved allegorical added title leaf, with title: Ioh. Kunckeli Ars vitraria experimentalis. There are 20 leaves of engraved ill., 17 of them full-page, as well as in-text woodcuts. Head- and tail-pieces, ornamental initials.
Page numbers 153-154 omitted.
Signatures: [superscript pi][A]p2s [superscript pi]Bp4s superscript pip2s A-2Up4s 2Xp2s 3A-3Zp4s.
In Getty copy preliminary gathering (C)p2s, the table of contents for Neri's Glas-Kunst, is bound after 2X2.
Binding: vellum, lapped foredges, with remains of 2 pairs of ties. Title & author written at head of spine; below them, a large T.
At head of title is ownership inscription of the Carmelites of Vienna. On back pastedown is 17-line inscription in German giving a recipe for varnish.
