Work Description
Historians tell us that the Second Objective began as a last-ditch effort to halt the Allied offensive at D-Day. A desperate Adolf Hitler selected 1500 English-speaking soldiers, trained them at a secret camp, and sent them across Allied lines to create chaos. An even smaller group was given the mission to attempt the assassination of General Eisenhower-- an operation known as the Second Objective. All were eventually captured, except for two rogues, who were never found or accounted for. There the historical record ends. Frost takes these facts and weaves a dramatic tale in the tradition of Freddy Forsyth and Ken Follett following the missing Nazi commandos: one a Brooklyn-born son of German parents who considers himself an American, and the other a charismatic, cold-blooded member of the SS. In their pursuit is a NYPD detective turned military police officer who finds himself faced with a difficult choice and a chance to change the course of history.
