Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Wendell Phillips received a letter from Maria Weston Chapman enclosing the letters of (Dominique Francois) Arago, (A.C.E.) Leflo, and (J.B.A.) Charras, and containing remarks of these "as related to our refusal of oath." Wendell Phillips wants to translate the letters for the Liberator and preface them with Mrs. Chapman's remarks. Wendell Phillips asks Anne Warren Weston: "Would it do to let them appear as hers or shall they seem homespun?"

The letter is written in pencil.
