First edition.
The first part of the book deals with the origin of life and is chiefly a defense of Aristotle's doctrine of spontaneous generation.
The second part has engraved t.p.: Pars secunda seu Supplementum Recreationis mentis et oculi in obseruatione testaceorum quorum aliqua exprimuntur non antea in lucem edita; the Recreatio mentis had been published in 1684.
The Micrographia curiosa was later published separately: Romae : Typis Antonii de Rubeis, MDCCIII. [1703]
The engraved frontispiece is dated 1692.
Woodcut initials, tail-pieces; side-notes.
"Errata benignus lector typographo condonabit": p. [1] of last group; p. [343] has same heading, but without the list of errors: it may be the recto side of a cancelled leaf.
