Edition Notes

The second plate (facing p. 55) is dated June 1, 1779.

Final three laves are publisher's advertisements.

P. 86 is mislabeled as 87.

The second section contains an additional title page: "A collection of letters from several pretty masters and mistresses to their parents: being a specimen of their forwardness in learning, now first made public for the imitation of others, by Tommy Tell-Truth."

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in floral Dutch gilt papers. An inscription, in an early hand, is present on the front flyleaf recto. It reads, "Miss Barnhurst, no. 4 [illegible] St., Birmingham, Warwickshire, ille liber ... [illegible]. Her signature is also present on the recto of the plate inserted between pages 54 and 55. A printed description of this copy is tipped onto the inside of the rear cover.
