Edition Notes

Translations into English and French of: Quattro libri dell'architettura. The Italian text is also included.
Vol. 1 has general t.p. and v. 2-5 have special title pages. The French and Italian texts have corresponding title pages in each vol.
The translations are by Nicholas Dubois.
The illustrations, newly drawn by Leoni, were engraved by Bernard Picart and others.
The title pages in v. 1 are dated 1715, the 1st being preceded by 2 plates dated 1716. The title pages in v. 2-5 are undated. Vol. 5 contains a privilege dated 1719/20.
Vol. 1: [14], 54, [6], 33, [5], xxx p., [33] leaves of plates; v. 2: [4], 37, [3], 23, [3], xxi, [1] p., LXI leaves of plates; v. 3: [6], 37, [3], 23, [3], xxii p., [21] leaves of plates; v. 4: [6], 33, [3], 20, [2], xx p., [55] leaves of plates; v. 5: [4], 17, [7], xii, [2], 12 p., [50] leaves of plates.
The Inigo Jones additions mentioned on t.p. were not included in the publication. Cf. pref. to v. 5.
