Dorothy and faithful Toto are back home in Kansas when they encounter the homeless and hapless Shaggy Man and decide to accompany him on his journey. Soon they encounter a bevy of new friends, including Button-Bright and Polychrome the Rainbow's Daughter, and are back on their way to Oz. Hoping to arrive in time to attend the Ozma's birthday party, the company is soon pitched headlong into a series of unlikely adventures, tackling talking foxes with magical powers and crossing the Deadly.
