Oldendorp's prefatory letter, inspired by or even developed from an older alphabetized florilegium (the anonymous Flores legum GW 10051-10068 ?), through editing (attributed to Michaël à Boldevvan) and adding (Oldendorp's expansion especially of the entry on presumptions).
Device of Sébastien Gryphe (Gryphius) on t.p. (griffon, cube, winged ball, flanked by motto "Virtute duce, comite Fortuna," Baudrier 1bis)
Published previously in 1545 (Oldendorp's letter is so dated)
Signatures: a-u⁸ x⁴ (x4, blank, absent or pasted to lower cover in LC copy)
In LC copy, the words "cum Ioan. Oldendorpii Epistola nuncupatoria" on t.p., also his name on p. 3 as sender of the letter, have been obliterated in ink.
