Victory gardens and long handled dippers

tales from the good old days in Southwest Minnesota

In January of 2015, folks living in southwestern Minnesota were asked to share their memories of the "good old days." They were invited to write letters describing interesting, humorous, unusual, and exciting (even romantic) "happenings" from the past. From their responses, 324 reminiscences were chosen to be included in this book. Their stories aren't history in the usual sense. Rather, they entertainingly describe a way of life that will never again be seen. The 20th century saw more change than any other period in human history, to date, and the tales included in this book relate that history from personal experience. This book is an effort to preserve remarkable data found locked in the tellers' collective memories.
