A study of Heavyweight Championship boxing competition which began seriously around 1737 in England under what would be called the Broughton Code of Bare-knuckle fighting. Here it goes to 1938 by when it had undergone structural and financial reformations under the Queensbury Code of Gloved fighting into a modern athletic business enterprise. The two periods of competition are here called "Fistic Combat" and "Revolution with a Glove" that involved a transformation not only changing the mode of competition but also the rewards available to the competitors.
