The Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland, in collaboration with the Centraal Museum of Utrecht, presents a large solo show by Craigie Horsfield, a British artist who has conducted extraordinary research since the 1980s on the nature of the photographic image.0His works focus on portraits, still lifes and moments of everyday life, popular rituals and traditions, represented with innovative techniques that tend to blur the boundaries between various artistic disciplines.0Photography is just one of the many aspects of his work: starting with a negative, or a film frame, Horsfield produces large works made with surprising techniques, including tapestries and frescos.00Exhibition: Centraal Museum, Utrecht, The Netherlands (28.10.2016-05.02.2017) / Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, Switzerland (12.03.-02.07.2017).

Work Description
Craigie Horsfield is known for his profoundly moving images of individuals and groups of people, as well as atmospheric representations of landscapes, often produced as tapestries on an epic scale. Following exhibitions in New York, London, Paris, Sydney and Antwerp, Centraal Museum presents the artist's largest solo exhibition in the Netherlands to date. With around forty works in a range of media, including photography, tapestry, fresco technique and a new site-specific sound work, the museum gives you the opportunity to reflect on your relationship to the world and how you perceive the world.
