“This most valuable work is not a mere compilation of facts, but a history drawn from sources original and reliable. The author says “all statements of doubtful authority have been discarded, and no evidence received but that of the most unquestionable character.” A distinctive feature of the work will be found in Part VII, containing biographical sketches of some of the most prominent actors in the border wars. Among the principal subjects relating to our topic, are, Indian Towns on the Ohio, French Claims on the Ohio, Bouquet’s Expedition, Capt. Cresap exonerated, Col.
