In appearance, Linda Bourne can be mistaken on occasion, for her sister. But there, the similarity ends. They are nothing alike, and it's time Linda made her independence from people who would hold her back.
Linda and her friend, (financially independent) Ruthetta decide to make their bid for freedom in Manhattan, where Linda succeeds in being offered a job by two different businesses with very different approaches to commerce.
Her Real Estate skills are good, but through the dishonesty of others, her own integrity is questioned and her personal loyalty mistrusted. There are jewel thieves (or thief) and heavy business competition that causes personal problems.
It's an Emily Loring book! With typical protagonist and antagonist interaction. Of course ;) it comes out alright in the end for Linda and Ruthetta. But not until after considerable conflict.
