Edition Notes
The theater first opened Jan. 29, 1798, as the "New Theatre." It burned May 25, 1820, and was rebuilt and reopened Sept. 1, 1821. On Feb. 27, 1822, its name was changed to "Theatre." It was always known as the Park Theatre from its location in Park Row, fronting what eventually became City Hall Park.
The addresses are in verse. "The prize address, by Charles Sprague, of Boston" appears on p. [11]-13.
Signatures: A-P⁶.
The folded frontispiece, "A view of the interior of the Park Theatre," is engraved by Garret Lansing.
