Formerly bound together, this is a collection of acts and decrees covering the reigns of Landgrave Friedrich I (1730-1751); Landgrave Wilhelm VIII (1751-1760); Landgrave Friedrich II (1760-1785); and Landgrave Wilhelm IX, later Elector Wilhelm I (1785-1803, 1803-1806, and 1813-1821). Friedrich I became King of Sweden by marriage in 1720 and his brother Wilhelm VIII acted in his place. Friedrich II converted to Roman Catholicism and spent most of his reign outside of Hesse-Kassel; his wife Mary, the daughter of George II of Great Britain, acted as regent.
