The research arose out of a Pertusi's idea, that the kind of blessed souls Dante chose to put in each of the nine heavens has been determined by the kind of angels in that heaven. My study proves that this is true and also shows that angelology was not the only principle Dante used to select his kinds of blessed; astrology was the other, and it was not a competing factor with angelology. In doing so, he was helped by Albertus Magnus' commentary on the De Caelesti Hierarchia and, as far as I know, this will be the first time that this work is taken into discussion in Dante's studies as a source of his scheme for the heavenly kingdom.
