Holograph, signed.

Included, is both the original manuscript and a typed transcript.

Edmonia Lewis is distressed because no one has written her about her group of sculptures, "Forever free." She wants to know what has become of it and if Mr. [Samuel Edmund?] Sewall has the money for it yet, as she is in great financial need. Lewis writes: "What little money I had I put all in that work with my heart." She requests that Mrs. Chapman see Mr. Sewall and ask him if he has been paid the $800 and to send her the money.
