A reply to O Filosofo solitario, in part a translation of Jean de Sales' Philosophie de la nature (printed in Paris, 1770), which first appeared in Lisbon, 1786-1787.

Mello Franco attacks Sales' assertions that solitude is better than society and that medicine is futile.
