Le livre raconte l'été heureux de la petite Fern, de son cochon Wilbur et de la meilleure amie de Wilbur, la magnifique araignée grise, Charlotte.

Wilbur et Charlotte habitent la belle vieille grange de l'oncle Homère. Fern passe des journées entières dans la grange, assise tranquillement sur son tabouret. Les animaux la traitent en égale et parlent librement devant elle. Un jour, Fern entend la brebis apprendre à Wilbur que les hommes l'engraissent pour en faire du jambon et du saucisson. Wilbur en est bouleversé. Que faire pour échapper à ce sinistre destin?

Charlotte le console et comme elle est très intelligente, elle conçoit un plan pour sauver la vie à Wilbur. Même Templeton, le vieux rat qui pourtant ne fait jamais rien sans contrepartie, est mis à contribution.

Patiemment, Charlotte tisse sa toile captant les insectes dont elle a besoin pour vivre, et les hommes dont dépend la vie de Wilbur.

Work Description

Charlotte's Web is a book of children's literature by American author E. B. White and illustrated by Garth Williams; it was published on October 15, 1952, by Harper & Brothers. The novel tells the story of a livestock pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur is in danger of being slaughtered by the farmer, Charlotte writes messages praising Wilbur (such as "Some Pig") in her web in order to persuade the farmer to let him live.
